For the two people directly involved, a wedding is a momentous event, possibly more so than any other in their lives to that point. Assuming a formal ceremony complete with guests and all the traditional wedding features, it is also an event that reflects the personalities and preferences of the bride and groom. In most cases it’s the bride whose priorities are foremost, if only because (in general) women tend to care more about these things.

Therefore, it is important for the wedding coordinator (the bride herself or a professional) to make sure everything comes together in a pleasing and memorable fashion, and that includes the wedding attire, the venue and the overall décor. Choosing an attractive colour scheme and following through with it is one of the best ways to insure that guests and participants have an experience as flawless as can be expected in such an event.

It is suggested that you pick a favorite colour (except maybe black) and beginning with the dress and shoes, carry it through in flowers and other accessories right down to the invitations and thank-you notes. It’s a classy touch that will make the impression you want to make.

Once you’ve chosen the colour scheme, the bride’s dress is the main attraction, and that’s where your personality should shine. Not only the colour but the style reflects your own priorities; if you’re a flamboyant type, gown and accessories could be ultra-modern or exotic, matching dress to jewellery and hair arrangement. A traditional veil can be lovely, but make sure it ‘flows’ with your hair and the rest of the ensemble.

Bringing the whole picture together can be a tough assignment, but it’s well worth the effort when the all ‘I dos’ are said and done. After all, you’re in the spotlight and you want your best features to shine.

A necessary factor in the planning of your wedding reception is the arrangement of the tables. A well-planned arrangement will add to the comfort of your guests and encourage mingling and conversation.

The first item to take into consideration is the placement of the special tables. The most important table is the head table, so you want to place it where it can be seen by all your guests. You could elevate this table and/or hang a wedding backdrop behind it and use special lighting. You want the bridal party to face your guests, so do not use a round table.

The wedding cake table should also be placed in a very visible location. Make sure that there is enough room around it so that the guests can take pictures of the cake and so that the guests can pass by the table without damaging the cake.

The table for the guest book should be placed near the entrance so that the guests can sign it as they come in. Conversely, for security, you want the gift table to be away from the entrance. A table for the DJ or the band should be placed near the dance area or in a location where the DJ or the band can see the dance area.

Once you have decided the locations of the special tables, you need to arrange the tables for the guests. Several factors have to be considered in determining the arrangement. If the room is long and narrow, use rectangular tables. If the room is square or uneven, use round or square tables. An emerging trend is to use a mixture of round and square tables to create an unusual effect.

Leave space for the dance area, if you are going to have dancing at your reception. Also leave room to get to the buffet, the bar (if you have one) and the restrooms, as well as room to get by the tables themselves.

Determine how many guests can be seated at each table. Do not put too many guests at any one table. Give your guests some “elbow room.” However, just because you can seat ten people to a table does not mean that ten people will actually sit at the table. You want to seat your guests so that they are comfortable with the other people at the table.

Guests who will come to the wedding together should be seated together. Younger children should always be seated with a relative or guardian, while older children may be seated at a table by themselves. You might want to group the adults by age, careers or common interests to stimulate conversation among them. Once you have determined the final seating plan for your guests, you will know how many tables you will need.

After the ceremony is over and the reception has started soon it will be time to step up and make a speech if you are the best man. This can be intimidating given the many considerations you will need to keep in mind that include how to be entertaining and sincere at the same time.

The way that the speech is organized is also extremely important given that you not only will want to please the groom and his bride, but also the parents of both, and all of the wedding guests.

Hopefully you will have had the chance to rehearse your speech at the wedding rehearsal dinner, but if not then you have one chance to say something that will be a part of the couple’s wedding forever.

Generally it will be your turn to speak after the parents have spoken, which gives you a little time to warm up in your mind. Within your speech you should remember to thank the parents of the groom and bride, and then focus on a few special notes about the couple that will bring both tears and laughter to the audience.

As you are closing up your speech, remember to thank the couple for inviting you to their special day and if there is something in particular that you want to leave with the bridal couple now is the time to toss it in. Finally, remember to keep it short but sweet because nothing is more aggravating than a speech that never ends.

In fact, some media analysts have gone as far as to predict that his impending nuptials may draw more interest than the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

A new report in fact states that celebrities and business tycoons are already lining up offering their services so that they can garnish some publicity from the event, with some even pushing for a live televised wedding.

Many of the offers include freebies such as celebrity chef’s offering to cater the wedding for free, the free use of luxury yachts for the wedding, and even street vendor merchandising of wedding memorabilia, which is estimated to generate around £30m from the wedding.

Stylist for American Idol, Miles Siggins, stated that the entire country has gone nuts about the impending nuptials, and that he is due to get married this autumn; in an event that Donald Trump would be envious of.

However, even though there is a lot of hoopla about the wedding, a source that is close to the couple says that they do not plan on making a massive event out of the wedding and plan to keep it simple and small, with just their close family and friends.
