Robbie Williams reunites his new wife with her father

Yes, it is possible to turn your life around.  Just ask Robbie Williams, the singer/songwriter who has had multiple mega-hits in his career, but almost lost it to drugs and alcohol.  He met Ayda Field, a Turkish-American actress, shortly after leaving rehab in 2007, and proposed to her last November on a live Australian radio show.

The couple took their vows last Saturday in an unconventional garden ceremony in Los Angeles. Approximately 60 guests got sushi and steak for the wedding dinner, and a full English breakfast at 1:00 a.m.  Guests also got to hear Robbie sing his hit single ‘Angels’ to his bride.

The wedding was cause for more joy in the family when Ayda was reunited by telephone with her father Haldun Evecan.  He is an advertising executive based in Istanbul who left Ayda’s mother and the U.S. in 1982 and reportedly had no contact with his daughter until she was 18.

Haldun told reporters that the two had talked for an hour when she called him on the morning of her wedding day, and that he had apologized for not being there for her, to which she responded that he had given her the greatest gift of all, life itself.

The emotional reunion via telephone apparently opened the door for a reconciliation and future connections.  Haldun said he had been invited to Los Angeles, and that that he hopes to host a lavish reception for the newlyweds in Istanbul.  Robbie is delighted with the idea, and said he can’t wait to meet Ayda’s Turkish family, especially her father.
